A woman was assaulted when two men allegedly armed with a knife and a shotgun entered an Auckland house in the early hours of this morning, and a shot was fired.

Police said two men entered a house in Cortina Place, Pakuranga, allegedly armed with a knife.

A woman at the house was assaulted, police said, and the burglars left.

A male from the house chased the offenders, who fired a firearm, believed to be a shotgun.

Police said no one was hurt when the shotgun went off.

Police are seeking anyone with information that could help identify the offenders.
