Man stabbed in Christchurch

A 22-year-old man suffered serious injuries when he was stabbed in Christchurch last night.

Police were called to the incident outside an address on Somerset Cres in Spreydon about 10.45pm.

The man suffered very serious injuries and was taken to Christchurch Hospital, an St John ambulance spokesman said.

Police said the man's injuries were not life-threatening but he was expected to undergo surgery today.

They were yet to speak to the victim.

Police will undertake a scene examination and speak to witnesses today.
