Trade Me members trying to cash in on America's Cup fever by auctioning patriotic numberplates after finding it hard to drum up trade.
A plate reading KIWIS is up for grabs - with the hefty starting bid of $25,000.
The listing says: "Cover yourself in glory with the plate for champions. Absolutely unique with tremendous investment value.''
Listed by Kevin from North Shore, the auction closes on September 29, and had yet to attract that all-important opening bid by 3pm today.
Meanwhile, a plate reading TMNZLD failed to meet the reserve price in an auction which closed yesterday and has been relisted for a lower price.
The auction listing says: "Americas Cup. All Blacks, Black Sticks. This plate covers all sport.
"After comments from throughout NZ, some good some not so good, I have relisted these special plates.
"Come on TMNZLD you beauty bring the cup home.''
Trade Me spokesman Jeff Hunkin said the top bid on the auction before it closed yesterday was $3000.
The plate has a new buy now price of $2500, but hadn't attracted any bids by 3pm either.
Mr Hunkin said the first auction attracted 12,770 page views and about 59 comments before closing yesterday.
