A trial date has been set for a Taupo dairy farmer accused of injuring a cyclist in a road rage incident.
Joseph Arthur Frederick Roberts, 22, appeared in the Rotorua District Court today. He had been charged with intent to cause grievous bodily harm after an incident near Taupo which left triathlete Alasdair Slade with a broken collarbone and serious pelvic injuries.
Roberts allegedly reacted to a hand gesture made about his driving and is accused of pushing Mr Slade off his bike while he was training for Ironman New Zealand, which is held in Taupo, in February.
Roberts will fight the charge at his trial which is set for November 11.
