Serious crash near Tauranga

Emergency services are on route to reports of a four-car crash near Tauranga in which one vehicle has been cut in half.

Police and St John ambulance are headed to at Tauriko on State Highway 29 in the lower Kaimais.

Inspector Willy Taylor said a car was cut in half in the crash, which involved four cars.

It is understood the crash has blocked both lanes of the highway.

The report came in at 4.54pm.

Injuries could not be confirmed at this time.
