Two people have suffered burns in a gas oven explosion in west Auckland.

Emergency services rushed to Lilburn Crescent in Massey after what was described as a "gas oven blowback" about 11.05am today.

An ambulance spokeswoman said an adult and a child had suffered moderate to minor injuries.

They were being transported to Waitakere Hospital.

Fire Service northern communications shift manager Jaron Phillips said fire crews had isolated the gas supply and were ventilating the home.

Police and ambulance were also in attendance.

A cordon is in place on the corner of Lilburn Crescent and Keegan Drive.
