The parents accused of neglecting their four young children were bailed when they appeared in court today.
The pair, who appeared in Lower Hutt District Court, face four charges each of neglecting their four children.
They were supported by family members when they appeared separately.
Judge Ian Miller bailed the mother to a relative's home until later this month.
The father has been bailed to a separate address.
They were granted name suppression to protect the identity of their children.
The children, aged between 7 months and 4 years, had been placed with Child Youth and Family caregivers.
Their parents were among a number of people arrested at a Lower Hutt address on January 4 after police were called to reports of disorder.
A Child Youth and Family spokesman said the children were with carers now and safe and well.
