Waikato police are warning the public not to approach a wanted Te Aroha man with a "disturbingly violent criminal history".
Cameron Lee Ashby, 34, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2005 and was released on parole but has since breached his parole conditions, Hamilton tactical coordinator Senior Sergeant Freda Grace said.
"He also has a history of carrying firearms and/or knives and anyone who recognises Ashby is warned not to approach him but to ring 111 immediately," she said.
Ashby is described as a Maori of medium build, about 180cm tall. He has known connections in the Hamilton, Waihi, Paeroa and Karangahake Gorge areas.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact Ms Grace at the Hamilton Central Police Station on 07 858 6200, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
