Christchurch police are appealing for information after the rape of a teenage girl in Redwood on Monday night.
Detective Sergeant Richard Quested said the reported incident took place at Ramore Reserve, about 11pm.
The incident was reported to police yesterday.
Detective Sergeant Quested said the girl did not suffer serious injuries.
The alleged offender is described as a Caucasian man, possibly wearing a dark-coloured hoodie and jeans.
"We are anxious to hear from anyone in the vicinity of the reserve and Ramore Place who may have heard or seen anything unusual at around 11 o'clock on Monday night," he said.
"If anyone has information about any movements in the area, we urge them to contact police as soon as possible."
