Only about a dozen people are in attendance at a hui over water rights in Hamilton.

Deputy Prime Minister Bill English is the Government's representative, and says he's not fazed by the small showing.

Tonight's hui was the first of six, and iwi leaders have promised to boycott.

The Tainui tribe says there's no point in going because the Government has already decided it opposes the plan.
