Woman suffers head wound in Hawke's Bay car crash

A woman was flown to hospital with serious head injuries after being trapped in a car following a three-vehicle crash in rural Hawke's Bay this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of State Highway 2 and Drumpeel Rd, north of Waipukurau, about 1pm.

Initial reports said five people were injured and one woman was trapped in a car with head injuries.

She was removed from the vehicle and flown to Hawke's Bay Hospital in a serious condition, St John spokesman Chris Matthews said.

Two others taken to hospital by ambulance in moderate conditions.
