A man fell to his death after his fingers were prised from the balcony he was hanging from, the Crown alleges.
Details of the case against Barry Harwood, who faces a charge of manslaughter, emerged at a callover in the High Court at Auckland today.
Justice Timothy Brewer said the police case is that Harwood, 66, had been in an all-day drinking session with Stewart Paul Kingi before the latter wet himself.
Harwood got into a "physical altercation" with Kingi before pushing him off the balcony of a second-storey Auckland apartment with the help of another man.
Justice Brewer said police allege "the victim was clinging to the balcony" and Harwood "prised his fingers off and he fell to his death".
