The wife of comedian Ewen Gilmour has died after a long battle with cancer.
Catherine Gilmour was surrounded by family members when she died on February 19.
She had surgery to remove a brain tumour in 2006, while Mr Gilmour was serving as a councillor at Waitakere City.
He resigned in August of 2007, citing the need to spend more time with his wife in her recovery.
Friends and family today hailed her "brave" battle and paid tribute to her as a beloved wife, aunt and daughter.
They appealed for those who wanted to commemorate her death to donate to children's charity Variety rather than giving flowers.
A funeral for Mrs Gilmour will be held on Thursday in Tuakau.
