A tramper injured by falling rocks on Mt Ngauruhoe in the central North Island today has been plucked to safety by a rescue helicopter.
A group was two thirds of the way up the mountain when rocks on a steep scree slope above them dislodged and struck the tramper on the legs.
He was flown to Taupo Hospital with moderate injuries to both legs by the Youthtown Trust Rescue helicopter.
