Two earthquakes have struck the North Island this morning, one near Masterton and another near Napier, GNS Science reported.
At 2.58am a 4.1 magnitude quake centred 10km north-west of Masterton struck at a depth of 25km, and was said to have been felt in the lower North Island.
This was followed by a 3.7 magnitude quake 30km north of Napier at a depth of 50km at 4.17am. GNS Science said it may have been felt in Napier.
