AOS attends callout to Wairau Valley

Police looking for firearms searched a rural property in the Wairau Valley in Marlborough today.

They went to the property - about 70km from Blenheim - at about 10am, acting on information received.

The armed offenders squad attended in order to clear the property of any occupants and to search for firearms believed to be there.

A police spokesman said a 48-year-old man presented himself at the Blenheim Police Station in relation to the incident.

Inquiries were continuing and charges were likely.
