Two men held up a Christchurch post shop at gunpoint just after midday today, taking a large sum of cash, police said.
The men went into the New Zealand Post Shop in the suburb of Saint Albans about 12.26pm, carrying firearms and demanding money from the shop staff, Inspector Paul Fremaux said.
The outlet was also a Kiwibank branch.
They left in a blue Subaru Legacy saloon, which was later found abandoned at the intersection of Packe and Cannon streets in central Christchurch.
