A toddler killed in a crash in a remote part of Bay of Plenty last night was unrestrained in a car, police say.
The two-year-old was in a car driven by a 33-year-old man which collided with another vehicle on State Highway 38 between Minginui and Te Whaiti, south of Murupara.
Police said the car rolled down a bank and it appeared the child was unrestrained and the death was preventable.
It was too early to say whether charges would be laid over the crash.
