An armed stand-off in Waikato appears to have been resolved.
Armed offenders squad (AOS) officers and police were called to the Huntly property in relation to a robbery this morning in Kihikihi, about 60km further south.
Acting western Waikato area commander Senior Sergeant Dave Simes said officers went to Kihikihi following a complaint about motorcycles being taken from a shop there.
Mr Simes said patrolling police were alerted to a vehicle, believed to have been connected to the incident, being driven in Huntly.
He said there was a possible threat of firearms being involved and the AOS was called and set up a cordon around the property as a result.
Officers spent some time at the scene "working towards bringing the situation to a successful conclusion".
Police this evening would not immediately say if the situation had been resolved or whether there had been arrests, but a resident in Bailey St, where the cordon was set, up told NZPA there didn't appear to be any drama.
She said the road was initially swarming with police and residents were told to stay inside, but the situation seemed to have been resolved about 3pm.
Police appeared to have done a good job in calmly bringing the situation to a close, she said.
