A police recruit goes on trial in the High Court at Wellington today for raping a woman two weeks into his training.
Mark James Tulloch, 30, allegedly sexually violated a woman he met on the internet.
He was arrested in April last year, four days after the alleged crime.
He is suspended from the police force on full pay and also from the army, where he is a part-time territorial force soldier, pending the outcome of the case.
