Police are appealing for witnesses after a motorist was hit and killed by a bus in South Auckland last night.
The victim was standing beside his broken down vehicle when he was struck by the bus on George Bolt Memorial Drive about 10pm.
The vehicle was parked on
the hard shoulder with its bonnet up and hazard warning lights flashing on, police said.
Sergeant Stu Kearns, from the police serious crash unit, said the name of the victim, believed to be in his 50s, would not be released until his relatives in Australia had been contacted.
Police wanted to hear from anyone who saw the dead man's green Nissan Maxima car on the side of the road between Montgomery Rd and Kirkbride Rd.
