Two Northlanders who caused a late-night commotion outside a police station and woke several people up have won their appeal against sentence.
The High Court has quashed Karla White and Chris Matthew Ferri's community work sentences and imposed fines after both appealed their conviction and sentence.
The duo were involved in a prolonged incident outside the Paihia police station in the early hours of Christmas Day 2015 when they shouted at officers inside the building which woke a number of people in their homes nearby.
The catalyst for their behaviour was the arrest of a man who was in a relationship with White's daughter.
The man was arrested after a chase, and pepper-sprayed, for allegedly breaching a liquor ban. The man was then taken to the Paihia police station.
