Whangarei talent quest: drag queens, dancing, kazoo playing

What happens when Whangarei secondary school students compete in a talent quest?

You get a mixture of entertainment from a drag queen trio and high energy hip hop dancing, to kazoo playing and singing.

The Whangarei Inter-School Talent Quest, held on Saturday, was born after the head prefects from different schools - including Whangarei Girls' High School, Whangarei Boys' High School, Kamo High School, Bream Bay College, Tauraroa Area School and Excellere College - met and came up with the idea to hold an event to bring schools together.

The result was a talent quest at Whangarei Boys' High School which was entertaining and raised about $1000 for Blue Light Whangarei.

Kasey Carr, from Bream Bay College, wowed the crowd singing Love on the Brain by Rihanna.

Joseph Gare, from Kamo High School, won the talent quest with his high energy dance performance.
