Jess Stitt was sitting in the car park of Pak'nSave when her stepmum called her with the NCEA results she'd been eagerly awaiting.
The 16-year-old had been awake since 6am yesterday checking the NZQA website to see if the results were out before work at Pak'nSave. For nearly 150,000 students across the country the wait was over.
"My stepmum called me and I freaked out because I thought I had failed but when she told me I was so happy," she said.
The news was good for the Whangarei Girls' High School student. She passed NCEA level 2 with a merit endorsement which means out of the 80 credits needed to pass NCEA level 2, 50 of those were merit credits.
When students sit exams they can get four results, not achieved, achieved, merit and excellence.
