A baby has been injured in an accident in Whangarei this afternoon when a car crashed into a house.
Just after 2:30pm emergency services were called to the crash at 1 Brunner Terrace in Kamo.
A police spokeswoman said both the baby, and its mother, who received minor injuries, were taken to hospital.
She said it wasn't clear if the baby had been in the car or the house at the time of the accident.
However, because the Serious Crash Unit was not required, the spokeswoman said it was unlikely to have been a major incident.
Fire service spokesman Jaron Phillips said despite initial reports indicating the baby was seriously hurt the assessment of its injuries had since been downgraded.
He said there were two other children at the scene of the accident; one received moderate injuries, the other minor.
He said three fire trucks attended, but no-one was trapped in the car.
Mr Phillips said he didn't have any information about the damage done to the car or the house.
