A service to commemorate the 129 victims of the Paris terror attacks will be held as part of the local French community's Christmas celebrations.
Festivities will be momentarily sidelined at Alliance Francaise's annual Christmas do, which will instead start with a service devoted to remembering those suffering in their French homeland.
Secretary Elizabeth Boutet was extending "heartfelt condolences" to the families affected and said the Whangarei service was open to anyone who wanted to attend.
"We will be having an event to mark what has happened - a little talk, we will sing a French song and have a service," she said.
This would be followed by the French meal that was planned for the event prior to the attacks.
