The sunshine had little to do with temperatures boiling over in Cameron St, where two young women had a very public spat.
One of two women in the altercation, which stopped shoppers in their tracks and saw police speed to the scene, was holding a baby during the incident yesterday afternoon.
About four other people among a group that regularly sits in the mall were shaping up to jump into the argument, a police officer at the scene said.
He described the incident as "handbags at 12 o'clock" rather than an all-out scrap.
The woman with the baby was heard to tell police at the scene: "It's not that big a deal, it's just a misunderstanding."
