The woman behind a Facebook page inspired by the immensely successful Humans of New York is hoping to portray Northlanders in all their diversity.
Humans of New York has more than 11 million followers. Most posts attract more than 100,000 likes and upwards of 2000 comments. It started with a few posts telling the stories of people living rough on the city's streets and now features a few new portraits each day of un-named New York residents, accompanied by a quote or an excerpt from an interview.
It has spawned dozens of similar pages worldwide, including Humans of LA, Humans of Amsterdam, Humans of Whangarei and now Humans of Northland, New Zealand. Each page has it own style and aims.
The creator of the Northland page, who lives in the Mid North and wants to remain anonymous, said she hoped to showcase Northlanders' diversity through her series of "photos with a quote" of random people from Te Hana to Cape Reinga.
"I also want to strike a balance of happy, sad, young, old, the icky stuff and the fun stuff."
