A Whangarei teen was arrested on Wednesday afternoon following a large fight involving over twenty people in Vine St. Police were called to Vine St carpark at around 4.20pm, where about 25 people, male and female, were allegedly involved in a brawl.
The fight had finished by the time officers arrived, Whangarei police spokeswoman Sarah Kennett said.
Police say they were able to identify the alleged main instigator, who was then located in Laurie Hall park. The 16-year-old was arrested and managed to escape, but was later caught by members of the public. The Whangarei teen was charged with resisting police, fighting in a public place, assaulting police and escaping police custody.
