A second teen has been arrested in relation to the murder of Michael Patrick Griffin in Whangarei.
The 17-year-old man is to appear before the Whangarei District Court today charged with murder.
Mr Griffin, 56, was found at the rear of his Second Ave home with serious head injuries at about 8am on Sunday, October 5.
He was taken to Whangarei Hospital by ambulance but died.
A 16-year-old male has already been arrested and charged with the murder of Mr Griffin.
He appeared in the Whangarei Youth Court and was remanded in custody until October 23 when he will appear in the High Court at Whangarei.
Police had made significant progress in the homicide inquiry, according to Detective Senior Sergeant Dene Begbie.
He said police were still looking for witnesses and were still doing considerable work around the area inquiries.
