Northlanders take a bow, the region's new cancer treatment unit - built after generous Northlanders raised $3.67 million - will officially open next month.
The $5 million Jim Carney Cancer Treatment Centre will open at Whangarei Hospital with a dawn blessing on November 7.
Project Promise - a fundraiser by the Northland Community Foundation - raised $3.67 million to build the new oncology unit and the Northland District Health Board donated the rest, including the site.
The centre is named after a prominent Whangarei businessman and philanthropist who died in November 2000.
