The two decades of service to the community notched up by the Anglican Care Trust in Whangarei have been duly celebrated with prayer, song and a jolly nice lunch.
The trust commemorated its 20 years at a special service at Christ Church last Sunday, followed by a lunch for past and present supporters, staff and benefactors.
Administrator, board secretary and management team member Shirley Mellsop said the anniversary was celebrated by about 175 people. The Right Reverend Ross Bay, Bishop of Auckland, was celebrant and the founder of the Care Centre work, Rev Neil Fuge, gave a sermon.
Some people came from as far afield as Christchurch and Napier to attend.
"It was a real privilege to connect those founding visionaries with the various people who have and still are offering services to our community," Mrs Mellsop said. The trust offers counselling, budget advice, senior citizens' support and a range of activities.
