NRL: Warriors five-eighth Kieran Foran denies link to Broncos

Warriors five-eighth Kieran Foran has denied reports that he is a eyeing a move to Brisbane for the 2018 NRL season.

The Kiwis international is yet to play his first game for the Warriors however Australian media are reporting his management team have contacted the Broncos several times to offer his services for next season.

Foran's godfather and Auckland-based solicitor Don MacKinnon says the 26-year-old was shocked by the reports and denies they are true.

MacKinnon told the Herald's David Skipwith Foran is focussed on the season ahead and making a successful return from shoulder surgery with the Auckland-based side.

"He has not spoken to a single club about 2018," said Mackinnon.

"His priority is entirely on getting ready for the Warriors in 2017 and having a successful year.

"It is simply far too soon for him to remotely on next season."

Foran split with his management team of George Mimis and Paul Sutton from SFX Sports last year and is yet to sign on with a new player agent.

The former Manly and Parramatta playmaker has not played since last May and spent time in a Brisbane rehabilitation centre before being released from his multi-million dollar four-year Eels contract in July.

A tumultuous past year saw him struggle with various personal issues including the breakdown of his relationship with his former partner and mother of his two children, Rebecca Pope, and mental problems that contributed to a suicide attempt from prescription pill overdose.

He was also linked to allegations of match fixing and his relationship with Sydney betting identity Eddie Hayson came under the microscope from both the media and the NRL's integrity unit.

In October, the Ellerslie Eagles junior signed a one-year deal to join the Warriors for this season but faced four months of uncertainty before the NRL finally registered his contract earlier this month.

He has been cleared to play from round three but needs to pass a second independent psychological assessment before the NRL will allow him to take the field in the Warriors clash against the Bulldogs in Dunedin on March 17.
