Napier MP Stuart Nash has been caught up in a comedic flexing contest after posting a video of himself pumping iron at the gym.
The Police Minister, donning a grey singlet with his biceps bulging, posted a video of himself pumping 45kg dumbbells at the Parliamentary gym late Tuesday night.
"What (a couple) of MPs get up to in parliament at 11.00pm in between reading papers.
"5 sets of 12 reps with 45kg dumbbells (no heavier weights available in Parliamentary gym). Not bad for an old geezer," Nash posted on Facebook.
As he finished his set and sat up to look at the camera, a red-faced Nash said "there you go, mate. Do that one".
His video received more than 200 likes but also caught the attention of National MP Alfred Ngaro, who went on to deliver a good old-fashioned slap down in response to the post.
A fellow gym goer, Mr Ngaro also took to the weights to show of his guns of steel but with comedic flair; clearly unimpressed with Nash's late-night gym braggadocio.
He quickly issued a response on his own Facebook page - a similar video pumping 1kg weights complete with much faux huffing, puffing and eye popping as cameraman Northland MP Matt King laughed in the background.
Hawke's Bay Today could not reach Mr Nash for comment yesterday.
