The festive spirit is overflowing in Flaxmere, where Flaxmere New World has been delivering some extra cheer to those facing hardship this Christmas.
Store owner Tim Wilson said that at the end of November the business put the call out to the local community to nominate people they thought deserved some special attention.
"As Christmas approaches there are many in our village community facing financial situations that will provide no room for any extra joy at this special time of the year.
"I saw this first-hand last year on the days after Christmas when speaking to the local kids about their Christmas Day."
The initial plan was to select 12 individuals or families that were most deserving, but unable to narrow it down, 15 families were selected.
Mr Wilson said nominations were invited from people who knew of a family who had had a particularly difficult year, suffered great loss or were simply in no position to enjoy what should be a truly special family time.
This week, the staff had been channelling Father Christmas and started delivering the goods, which had included a bike, tent, skate board and some monetary donations, along with stock and/or non-perishable food items.
"We have been shopping and have purchased individual gifts for 77 children, with each family also receiving a significant present like a tramp, a pool, a basketball hoop.
"It's been amazing - we dropped some off yesterday - a boy was given a tent and said it was the best day of his life."
Mr Wilson said the business was an integral part of the community and he felt it was important it showed social responsibility.
His efforts had been supported by the store's suppliers and partners.
"This generosity has meant we have been able make this something really special."
The 12 Days of Christmas campaign was run through social media and recipients had expressed their gratitude on the Flaxmere New World Facebook page.
One gave a huge thanks to Tim and the team for the food, gifts, toys and swimming pool they received.
"The pool is just what they needed in this very hot summer weather to cool down. I'm forever honoured that you took the time to read my story, hear my struggles. And in return you surprise me with this wonderful Christmas food and gifts hamper. May you all have a truly blessed Christmas and a very happy new year," they said.
