The scheduled 14-month roundabout and roading construction programme at the intersection of Watchman Rd, Meeanee Quay and SH2 is now underway and motorists passing through the area are being urged to stick to temporary speed restrictions and layout changes.
While there were restrictions in place a New Zealand Transport Agency spokesman said delays at this stage would be "negligible".
Restrictions were also in place for the temporary layout at the Napier Rd and Pilcher Rd intersections with SH2 at Mangaterere, where work on the Whakatu arterial roundabout was now well under way.
Delays of up to five minutes can be expected at several other work sites on highways across the region.
On SH2 north, speed restrictions and stop-go signalling is in place at Whirinaki, where seal widening is being carried out near North Shore Rd, and at sites between Bay View and Wairoa where the installation of raised pavement markings is taking place.
