Hawke's Bay is the hottest place to be this week, with temperatures expected to soar above the rest of the country.
After a balmy summer with temperatures hovering around 30C, the region is definitely heading into autumn with less sunshine, and cooler days expected.
However these lower temperatures are still expected to be warmer than the rest of the nation - yesterday's high of 19C was looking to be the lowest for the next week, with most days reaching temperatures in the mid-20C's.
Metservice Meteorologist Angus Hines said the temperatures over the next week would "certainly be at the higher end of the scale".
He said it would be relatively hot for this time of year, with some days reaching temperatures in the high 20C's this week.
