Major repair work on the Mohaka Bridge on SH5 between Napier and Taupo is scheduled to be wrapped up at the end of June.
Contractors are carrying out extensive repairs to the superstructure of the bridge and, while work is going on, it will remain as one lane only.
Motorists travelling the highway are advised to be prepared to queue at times as temporary traffic lights have been set up, while at other times there will be manual traffic control.
A 30km/h speed limit has been put in place on the approaches to the bridge and while crossing.
Heavy trucks are limited to 60 tonnes and, while crossing, drivers are asked to ensure there is a 40m gap between trucks.
