The body of an elderly man was recovered from Napier's Pandora Pond yesterday.
A police spokeswoman said the 91-year-old man's body was found in the water yesterday afternoon, after he went missing from the Masonic Retirement Village in Taradale on Monday.
He had been reported missing after he did not return from an afternoon walk.
Police searched the area on Monday night, turning up nothing.
Yesterday morning, the man's clothes and personal effects were found on a jetty in Ahuriri's inner harbour.
A water and shoreline search was launched, involving the police, Hawke's Bay Coastguard and local boaties.
The man's body was discovered in Pandora Pond waterway, a short distance from the jetty.
His death was not being treated as suspicious and had been referred to the coroner.
Meanwhile, Whakatane Police were yesterday appealing to the public for help finding 71-year-old tourist Lewis Cure, last known to be in Te Puke on Monday morning.
A police spokesman said there were concerns for Mr Cure's safety, as he is a diabetic and requires insulin medication.
