The long holiday weekend may simply turn into a long holiday for one lucky couple who bought their ticket for Saturday's draw from Tamatea Pak'n Save in Napier.
They picked up a half-share of the first division prize - a cool $500,000.
A ticket bought in Whangaparaoa took the other $500,000 share.
A check with the supermarket just after 11am yesterday revealed the couple had been in and completed the necessary paperwork to pick up their cool half a million.
One staff member said that, while she did not recognise their names, they were locals.
"And they are regular customers, it's great to see some regulars get the big win."
Asked if the couple were "young or old" she said "probably older" and left it at that.
It was another big win for Napier Lotto players.
In the first draw this year, a ticket also picked up a $500,000 win, followed in March by a $608,230 Strike Four prize.
And in May, a Napier woman won a $500,000 Lotto first division prize.
For the Tamatea outlet it was the second big strike in just over a year.
In late June last year, Tamatea Pak'n Save sold a $147,857 share of a first division prize.
