It was Business Time as Flight of the Conchords fans scrambled to get pre-sale tickets to the duo's 10 New Zealand gigs yesterday, and that madness is expected to hit Hawke's Bay on Friday as general sales begin.
Jemaine Clement and Bret McKenzie will open their first New Zealand tour since 2009 with a performance at the Hawke's Bay Opera House in Hastings on June 13.
"This is the start of the tour, so to have the premier here is pretty special," Opera House manager Roger Coleman said.
"They are definitely the most sought-after act we have had, so it just goes to show the quality of New Zealand entertainment."
A total of 300 prime tickets for the show will be available from Hawke's Bay Opera House box office at 8am on Friday, for those who are willing to queue - but they will sell out fast.
"When those tickets go on sale at the ticketing office we are expecting people to be here through the night," Mr Coleman said.
Lines are expected to be so long that radio stations the Edge and More FM have organised to serenade fans with entertainment and hand-out hot coffee.
To get one of those 300 tickets, people must line up and they will be allowed to buy only two at a time.
"There's been a great deal of concern over ticket scalping in recent weeks and so it's back to the future, where you personally queue up at the box office," co-promoter Stuart Clumpas said.
The remainder of tickets to fill the 988-seat Opera House will be available via the internet and phone from 12pm on Friday, with a limit of just four per person.
"I would be very surprised if they were not all gone by the end of the day," Mr Coleman said.
Tickets are $55 to $79.
