Three earthquakes shook Northern Hawke's Bay last night with the biggest measuring magnitude 4.5.
GNS Science said the first quake measured magnitude 4.5 and struck at 8:18pm about 40 km south of Gisborne at a depth of 25km.
The second quake struck at 8:28pm about 30km south of Gisborne and measured magnitude 4.2 at a depth of 25km.
The third quake measuring magnitude 4.3 struck one minute later at the same depth and location. GNS Science said the earthquakes were felt between Gisborne and Wairoa.
