Former Hokitika woman Michelle Blok, pictured, picked up an Emmy at the recent 2016 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, in Los Angeles.

The former Westland High School student is currently working on Game of Thrones and manages a team of 3D artists based out of London.

Her parents, Theresa and Carl, still live in Hokitika.

Mrs Blok said Michelle had a long list of films under her belt already, including Tim Burton-directed films and Bond movies.

Michelle grew up in Hokitika and attended St Mary's Primary School and then Westland High School.

She graduated from Lincoln University as a landscape architect before she was inspired by the Lord of the Rings to move into animation.

She graduated from Auckland's Media Design College in 2005 with honours.

The Television Academy creative arts Emmy's were held in Los Angeles on Saturday.
