Hugh Jackman weighs in on NZ flag debate

Australian A-lister Hugh Jackman has weighed in on the New Zealand flag debate, telling local radio station ZM that he would like to see change.

"I'm a big promoter of both our countries having a different flag," he told ZM, during an interview for his upcoming film Eddie the Eagle.

"I think the days of having the Union Jack on our flag, we've moved on from that point. No offence, it's all great, thank you very much, time to move on," he said.

Discussion around whether Australia should change its flag is gaining momentum, following in the wake of New Zealand's own flag referendum.

Voting is currently open for Kiwis to choose whether they want to change the flag, with voting due to close on March 24.
