The man accused of sparking a bomb scare at a Wellington bank is being extradited from Australia tonight.
The 34 year old, who had been in New Zealand on a work visa, flew to Sydney last month on a Jamaican passport but was arrested at Sydney Airport on December 17 before he could board a flight to Canada, the Dominion Post reported.
A note handed to a bystander outside the Featherston St bank on December 9 saw 200 people evacuated and part of the central city closed. No bombs were found but police said it was part of an attempted robbery.
The man is due to appear in Wellington District Court tomorrow.
