ISLAMABAD (AP) The next chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board will be elected on Aug. 18 from an 11-member new board of governors.
The acting chairman of the PCB, retired Supreme Court judge Mohammad Sair Ali, announced the move on Saturday. He was appointed last week by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who is also patron of the PCB.
Former PCB chairmen Shaharyar Khan and Najam Sethi were directly appointed by Sharif on the governing board which includes eight representatives from regions and departments. A government official will also sit on the board but not have voting rights.
Khan is favorite for the post after Sethi said he will not contest fresh elections.
