Apple Watch: New Zealand release date announced?

Apple may have accidentally announced a New Zealand launch date for the Apple Watch today on its app store, before quickly taking the information offline.

Fairfax reported that this morning, the Apple Store iOS app said Kiwis would be able to purchase the watch on July 31 from 7.01am, however, around 1pm, the information was removed.

Replacement information was soon issued which said "Available in 2015", Fairfax reported.

Apple were not immediately available for comment.The Apple Watch, with a rectangular touch-screen face, includes sensors to detect pulse rates and other health-related features and must be paired with an iPhone to work properly.

It comes in two sizes and three styles - classic, sports and gold editions.

The Apple Watch was released in April to excited crowds, however last month it was announced that sales for the watch had plummeted by 90 per cent.

A report by market research firm Slice Intelligence claimed sales of the watch, had dipped to 4,000 a day in May, a far cry from the 200,000 a day sold in its first week of release.

Apple have yet to make comment on these claims.
