A revamp of a Mount Maunganui retirement village has been awarded gold in this year's New Zealand Commercial Project Awards.
Entrant Stanley Construction won the restoration category for their work on Ocean Shores Retirement Village's redevelopment.
The awards were held tonight in Auckland and acknowledged some of the building industry's most creative constructions throughout the country.

Awards spokesperson Greg Pritchard says the Award winners represent the very best in New Zealand's commercial property sector.

These awards reveal just how strong our commercial property industry is, with winners displaying excellence - from design to build," he said.

Ocean Shores is located on Mount Maunganui's Maranui St and were on track to completing about $10 million worth of weather proofing repairs to 84 apartments in Christmas 2013.
The renovations involved two apartment blocks after suffering leaky problems.
Other winners around the country included the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre in Christchurch, the Avantidrome National Cycling Centre of Excellence in Cambridge - which received a Special Award, category and Gold award - the Tasti Products offices in Auckland, and the Sandilands Edwardian Development in Feilding.
