Anger boiled over at Tauranga District Court this morning as two men appeared accused of the murder of a man found dead in Ohauiti.
The men, 36 and 37, have jointly been charged with murder, assault and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Murder victim Takena Tiepa-Ranapia, 19, left a trail of blood - half a kilometre long - after he was assaulted in Ohauiti on November 30. Police launched a homicide investigation the next day.
In a late development, a 40-year-old woman was also jointly charged with assault and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
She is also individually charged with possession of methamphetamine.
All three accused received name suppression until they next appear in court.
One of the men pleaded not guilty to the charges.
As that man began to leave the dock, calls rang out from the public gallery where half a dozen family members of the dead man sat.
One man yelled "it's all on now n****r".
One of the upset men was being held down by a woman sitting next to him when police asked the men to leave the courtroom.
The woman has been remanded in custody until a bail application could be heard in court tomorrow.
The two men have been remanded in custody until next month.
