Road safety is everybody's responsibility, and poor driving at intersections not only put those behind the wheel in danger, also other road users.
Tauranga is about 4 per cent above the national average for crashes at uncontrolled intersections and about 10 per cent above the average for give-way controlled intersections.
A 2011 Ministry of Transport survey found 16 per cent of New Zealanders described the design and standard of the roads they normally used as "very safe". A further 69 per cent thought their usual roads were "fairly safe", and 15 per cent described the design and standard of the roads they normally used as "very unsafe" or "fairly unsafe".
There has been little change in this perception over the last decade.
How would you describe the roads in Tauranga, and which intersection do you find most dangerous?
